I used to protect my heart by building emotional walls—walls as impenetrable as those surrounding ancient Jericho. While these walls kept pain out, they also kept love and life out, and that was slowly killing me.
Just as God commanded Joshua to march around Jericho, God helped me walk around the fortress of my own heart. With each act of obedience and faith, those walls began to crumble. But unlike Joshua's one-time victory, I realized I could rebuild my walls anytime I wanted.
When the walls came down, I found something unexpected inside.
Like the Israelites discovering the treasures of Jericho, I found fears I'd been hiding from myself. The strange thing? These fears made me feel valuable and in control—like precious gold I needed to protect. But when I started growing spiritually, those same fears became obstacles blocking my promised land.
I had to ask myself the hard questions:
- Am I afraid of being loved?
- Am I afraid of success and abundance?
- Am I afraid of taking responsibility?
Here's the miracle: When I gave up these "treasured" fears completely, God transformed them from burdens into wisdom and knowledge.
This is real alchemy. This is the power of change. This is what happens when we let God turn our personal Jericho into our greatest victory.
The walls that once imprisoned me became the foundation for something beautiful—a heart finally free to receive all that God intended.
Are you ready for your own Jericho moment?
If you're tired of marching around the same walls, wondering when they'll finally fall, maybe it's time for a breakthrough. Sometimes we need someone who's walked this path to help us see what we can't see ourselves.
