The Cost of Poverty

Honor Among Thieves

Perception can be a form of deception, in ways that provides the illusion of trust among those who may be unworthy of our trust.

I suppose that when trust is broken, the road back to repair can be a difficult ordeal. Which is why stealing from loved one's becomes a boundary that some refrain from crossing. And from this standpoint when a loved one crosses that threshold, it makes it very hard to see the reasons behind the action.

But is the problem that one has loved someone who is not trustworthy? Personally I don't think so, because in my experience there are certain truths that are apparent in things like forgiveness.

Because forgiving ourselves and others has a very powerful and magical effect on us. One of which is harnessing the ability to let go of pain, grief, sorrow, fear and confusion. Another reason why honor itself can be abstract when perceived from the mindset of perfection, especially when we all know that being human is all but being perfect.

So when thieves steal from each other, it shouldn't be of no surprise to those who do it. But the big challenges are for those who have been wronged, but wish to love and need to forgive to move on.

The first instinct in punishment is to remove the limb responsible for stealing and teach a lesson...

But I'm starting to realize that the best lesson is taught through forgiveness, because it is the mind that chose to steal. And for those who were wronged, it takes the mindset of forgiveness to set ourselves free from the enslavement of resentment.

And that to me is true honor among thieves, because no one is perfect and some may steal from those that they love. But yet, everyone can choose to forgive...
