The Cost of Poverty

Now What?

You stand in front of a door as you open it, only to find that it's completely dark and now you're reaching for the light switch.

Something touches your hand and instinctively retreats back to you. Stepping back to leave, an unseen force pulls you in.

Shocked - you turn to escape but the door slams shut and now you're in complete darkness with...

You see? When we are faced with fear, what can we expect? Fear itself? Maybe, or is it more than that?

The unknown has infinite possibilities, yet we fear to explore it.

I've been through darkness, as many of you have too. And sometimes we've put ourselves there whether we know it or not.

Own The Experience

Even if the place you find yourself is by circumstance, it's still your own experience and we have to accept that.

So what do we choose?

When in a negative environment what choices do we really have? And if we desire to not be there, where do we really want to be?

Sometimes the clue is in communication, but what if we're alone?

Maybe we can find our way out by tracing our steps from where we started.

What got us here? What was my intention to get where I wanted to be in the first place?

Because sometimes our journey may have begun with ill intent. And the way out is to discover our true desires.

Take Responsibility For Choices Made

If we are mindful of the big picture, we might be able to see the glimmer of light even in complete darkness. Probably because we're so far from it that it takes zooming out and looking deeper into ourselves to see the way.

On my 18th birthday the only direction I thought about - was to make a ton of cash and party, and maybe get rich somehow.

My hopes and dreams were as long as my hair. But I didn't have a map, and with almost no regard plunged head on into my voyage.

And now almost forty years later I can see that even without a plan, my desires have been met - in one way or another and in ways that I wouldn't have expected.

I clearly see that eventually I can get what I want - but in ways that I never wanted to happen. The journey always leads us to the here and now. And at times we may ponder old Bill's "to be; or not to be".

But in reality, from where we stand the choice is obvious and to just "Be".

The present is here and we are a present to each other.

Aloha & Mahalo! 🤙🏽
