There was a coolness in the air when I left my mom's place yesterday. I hit the freeway with a stillness in my heart as the warm sun through the windshield radiates through my chest.
Reveling in gratitude of the moment I notice a silver SUV in my side view mirror coming up on my six really fast.
It lines up on the drivers side corner as if to accidentally hit me.
Instinctively I swerve a tad to the right because I barely had time to check the lane next to me.
And in a split second the SUV is now next to me and our mirrors are about to hit, I nudge a little more over and we miss...
Still thinking that this was almost an accident. The silver car lunges forward and heads toward a white SUV in front of me and does the exact same thing. But the car in front wasn't so lucky as their side view mirrors hit and shattered glass sprays onto the freeway lanes.
What's interesting to note is that before I left my mom's we had a conversation about future events and if I'd be prepared for any major instances in which I'd have to prepare for.
And in honesty, I mentioned to her that in some ways I'm unprepared for such catastrophes. But I am aware of my past and the patterns that have presented themselves across time.
I did however address my fears of losing loved one's on my journey and she quickly iterated in another way that my path might include an alternate route instead. Hmmm...
Yesterday did show that being aware of my six helped me avoid a current circumstance, which proved to be an issue as events unfolded in front of me.
Whether it was luck or awareness, scanning our surroundings can truly prove beneficial in many ways.
So watch your six!
Mahalo and Aloha 🤙🏽
